We met while living and working in the Bavarian alps of Germany. We both had been itching to see the rest of the world and we figured this was our opportunity since we were already living in Europe.
After a few years of living and working in Europe, we decided to take a trip to Asia where we traveled through India, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, China, and Mongolia before finally heading to Seattle to continue our culinary interests. After about a year Kevin started scheming how to get back to South East Asia, having decided that food from that part of the world was what he really wanted to cook.
We headed back to Malaysia, Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar, and we really taking about what we wanted to do, and we also began learning the local cooking techniques. While in South East Asia we had so many simple, honest, delicious meals. The food there isn't gimmicky or trendy, it's just good. We hope to do the same here in Seattle with what we prepare for you at Kedai Makan.
